Good morning Resident,
Will we be walking in a Winter Wonderland this month? We had the snow last week and now as the festive decorations line the streets of Scarborough, It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas! Just like Last Christmas, we will be launching our Winter Patrol Plan on Monday 1st December 2025. This initiative will see our current priority operations being brought together to create a wider focus to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and to improve confidence throughout the festive period and into the New Year. We don’t want our residents and visitors to have a Blue Christmas, so we will be focusing on our retail crime, street crime, anti-social behaviour, night-time economy and violence against women and girls. (VAWG) We will be increasing the amount of community connection drop in events throughout the festive period, where the public will be able to engage with officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and partners from the Community Safety Hub, whilst shopping or going out on a night. Our Beat Bus will also be parked up in different locations across Scarborough, where you will be able to speak to officers and get crime prevention advice. You can find out when and where our events will be by visiting our website, details below in the comments. We don’t want to hear that Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, so we will also be increasing our road safety operations across the festive period to keep you safe whilst Driving Home For Christmas. There will also be an increase of dedicated officers to target key areas within Scarborough to reduce the likelihood of crime and anti-social behaviour. This includes more of a presence within our pubs, bars, shops, takeaways and taxi stands. We will be working with our partner agencies to keep everyone safe. Christmas is just around the corner – and with Father Christmas landing on the shores of Scarborough before heading off to his temporary grotto on Queen Street, we know that big day is fast approaching. However, we know that there are those within our neighbourhoods who do struggle over Christmas, or those where Christmas doesn’t come at all. Last year, we posted a list of the community events happening over Christmas, from community dinners to Christmas get-togethers and rambles with new friends. We are now appealing to our communities – do you host or know of any events happening over the Christmas period? If you have any details, please either reply to this message or email Nathan.stuart@northyorkshire.police.uk. Please get in touch before 6th December 2025. Nathan will get back to you to find out more details and to allow us to advertise the event.
Kind Regards,
PCSO 6456 Ian Fewster
